Thanks for help at Cycle for Life 2021

Hi All,

On behalf of myself and John G7DBM, may I extend our thanks to everyone who volunteered and took part in the Cycle for Life Event which Essex RAYNET supported today, on behalf of Farleigh Hospice.

Between 16 of us, we volunteered 150 hours to this worthy cause, helping to raise much needed funds for the hospice and a good opportunity to dust off those cobwebs and home in those RAYNET skills. Farleigh Hospice have also hinted at a donation for our services, which as always will be reinvested into equipment or similar.

Our multi crossband/talk-through repeater network worked really well using a 2m backbone between 5 Repeaters, providing coverage across the entire route with ease – not easy when the course is 100km!

It was great to see some of our newer members attend their first event and cover a variety of locations.

I worked net control with M0IXY and was very pleased with the overall radio procedure followed by all operators. This was Andy M0IXY’s first time in net control and he did really well – if you have not worked net control before and would like to, please let us know and we’ll do our best to get you assigned there at a future event.

As always, we use these events as a means of training and opportunity to learn how we can improve.

See you at the Chelmsford Marathon!

Best Regards,

Jason Moore
