On Friday 8 July, Maldon District will officially welcome the Baton.
As part of this prestigious event Maldon Council will also organising UFest which is a community health and wellbeing mini festival. The intention is to have a stage with entertainment throughout the day, activities and community organisations exhibiting – with a mini food quarter.
During its time in Maldon District, the Queen’s Baton Relay will visit Maldon’s Promenade Park with 10 Batonbearers taking turns to carry it on a 2km loop through the park and along the riverside by the Marine Lake including a visit to the statue of Byrhthnoth.
The schedule of activity for the Baton’s time in Maldon includes:
- Afternoon – Arrival of the Queen’s Baton from Southend and official greetings
- Batonbearers run around Promenade Park with the Baton
- Baton departs to visit Lee Valley and Hemel Hempstead
