Essex Raynet Event Report
Event : Farleigh Hospice Cycle for Life 2008
Date : 14/09/08
User Service : British Red Cross Society
The event started with a short briefing at approximately 08:00, with
operators being on station around 08:30 - 08:45. The net control
station was G4BCV located at County Hall, with eight operators being
located at checkpoints, and marshal points around the course. With
careful management Raynet also provided a tail-end sweeper who
followed the cyclists around the course.
The event was fairly quiet with messages being handled quickly and
efficiently. A small number of cyclists retired early from the
event, mainly due to tiredness. Most operators were stood down by
around 16:45. Unfortunately, two cyclists mistakenly took a wrong
turning and ended up cycling around the short route as well
The Raynet sweeper was dispatched to search for them and followed
them safely back to the hospice at 18:30.
In excess of £40,000 has been raised for the
hospice charity. |
